A party that claims to fight corporate greed can't cash checks from MAGA billionaires whose whole mission is killing AI guardrails. This tech is already stealing creators' work, hooking kids on chatbots that push self-harm and flooding elections with fakes. Voters overwhelmingly want real safeguards, so taking Silicon Valley's money is both a betrayal of Democratic values and terrible politics.
Democrats can't let AI become the next Silicon Valley culture war when voters are struggling with the cost of living. Making AI safeguards too big a campaign priority could expose vulnerable candidates to costly attacks from pro-AI groups without giving them a top-tier issue with voters. Keep guardrails on the agenda, but focus the campaign on what voters feel every day: high prices, affordability and economic security.
Refusing to engage with AI means handing the rules of the future to countries that do not share American values. Leading the Future backs Democrats and Republicans alike, supports child-safety standards, frontier oversight without crushing startups, AI literacy, worker training and computing infrastructure that protects ratepayers. A middle-ground approach advancing innovation and safeguards is possible through optimistic realism.
