A wildfire burned more than 800 hectares of the Fontainebleau forest, about 60 kilometers (37 miles) southeast of Paris, on Sunday, forcing evacuations and partially closing the A6 motorway during a heatwave.

Brittany, long seen as a cool-weather refuge, faces up to six heatwaves a year and a 25-day increase in fire-prone conditions under current warming trajectories.
