Version 7.7.2
Billboards advertising U.S. births for $4,000 show birthright citizenship has become a commodity. The Supreme Court's ruling opened the door to a massive scam that rewards those who can pay to game the system. The Court must immediately rehear this disastrous decision before it causes lasting damage to America. Until then, every state should do everything possible to disincentivize and outlaw birth tourism in all its forms.
Trump's rehearing request is essentially a dead end. The Supreme Court last granted one after a decided case in 1965 and has only reversed itself once after rehearing. Under Rule 44, a majority of justices would need to agree to reopen the case, and there's no realistic path to flipping Roberts or Barrett. The 6-3 ruling on birthright citizenship is settled law, and political frustration doesn't change how the Court operates.
