Washington has finally stopped rigging the market to force families into vehicles nobody asked for, and the payoff will be cheaper cars built by American hands. Letting engineers design what buyers actually want, instead of chasing a number set by bureaucrats, cuts waste out of every assembly line. Billions flowing into plants across the Midwest and South prove the approach works.
Democratic narrative
Gutting efficiency rules hands automakers a pollution pass while families eat the cost at the pump and in worse health outcomes as climate change accelerates. Any sticker-price break is marginal at best, and burning more gas over a decade of ownership wipes it out. Pulling back on electrification and R&D incentives also gifts the global auto market to China.
