- Sweden's Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has resigned following Sunday's general election. His right-wing bloc lost narrowly to the center-left opposition. Kristersson's resignation was announced on Thursday via a post on X.
- Sweden's center-left opposition narrowly defeated the governing right-wing bloc, as the Swedish Election Authority announced on Thursday that the vote count was complete.
- The election authority showed that over 50,000 votes separated the two blocs. Magdalena Andersson's Social Democrats managed to secure 176 seats in the 349-seat Riksdag, while Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson's bloc won 173.

Left narrative
Sweden just rejected the far right. Voters looked at a prime minister who promised to hand ministerial posts to a party with neo-Nazi roots, and the Sweden Democrats lost ground while the Social Democrats stayed the country's biggest party. There is a narrow majority of three seats, and it's a mandate to pull Sweden back from Europe's harshest migration crackdown.
Right narrative
This is no mandate for a left turn. Even the Centre Party admits the result gives no license for a leftward lurch, and a bloc that squabbles over tax policy and whether the Left Party gets cabinet seats can't govern anything. A coalition this fragile will collapse into the same paralysis that once took Sweden 134 days to sort out.
