- Italy and Spain agreed Thursday to lift the border controls they imposed on each other's travelers, ending a three-month dispute triggered by the crossing of tens of thousands of migrants into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.
- Interior ministers Matteo Piantedosi and Fernando Grande-Marlaska settled the matter in a phone call, agreeing that the Schengen suspensions "will not be extended further," while Spanish media reported the checks were being dropped.

With migration weaponized by outside governments to extract concessions, reaffirmed by ideological desires to grant dangerous illegal migrants asylum, reinstating national controls is basic self-defense.
