András Baka's election as Hungary's president is a victory for rule of law and democratic renewal. Baka was removed from office by Orbán for defending judicial independence, making him the perfect symbol of what Tisza is rebuilding. Hungary is finally dismantling the authoritarian structures that defined 16 years of Orbán's rule.
Government-critical narrative
Tisza's rapid overhaul — ousting a sitting president, purging appointees and suspending public broadcasters — looks less like democratic restoration and more like a power grab. Magyar has taken abuse of power to new heights, and his appointment of Baka is meant to divide Hungarians along partisan lines rather than build consensus.
