Version 7.18.2
Handing ballot access to figures sanctioned abroad over suspected gang ties turns the long-awaited election in Haiti into a payday for the very forces terrorizing Haiti. Total impunity at home already shields these players, and smoothing their path back to power guarantees more of the same predation. A vote organized on those terms can only launder criminality rather than end it.
The new electoral decree trimmed the paperwork maze, finally making the process accessible to ordinary Haitians, not just the well-connected. Credibility comes from the widest possible participation and a clear, workable framework, not from locking people out by decree. A realistic timetable paired with serious security work is the honest way out of this crisis.
