Germany's Merz Cancels UN Trip Amid Election Concerns
Would traveling abroad be a bad look or are the chancellor's days in office numbered regardless?

Though Merz was due to receive the Henry Kissinger Prize and was scheduled to address the U.N. General Assembly, it was likely decided it would not be a good look for him to be abroad if his party performs poorly in local elections as expected.
Government-critical narrative
While Merz is doing his best to rally public support, his abrasive communication style and his lack of empathy has eroded his trust with voters and his days are likely numbered. The problem for Germany is that there's a lack of good options for anyone else to step into the role.
