- The head of Flávio Bolsonaro's Liberal Party recognized the presidential runoff defeat to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in a press statement signed on Monday, but raised concerns about the impact of the increase of welfare payments ahead of the vote.
- This comes as Flávio Bolsonaro said in a video that he would file a lawsuit with the electoral court to disqualify Lula's ticket over what he called "the largest-ever vote-buying operation" in Brazil, adding that he will "organize the opposition to build a fortress" in Congress.
- He told a press conference late Sunday that he would deploy his legal team to annul the runoff over a last-minute two-hour voting extension, but he didn't repeat the message on Monday. Annulment would require convincing the electoral court of election fraud before the results are certified on Dec. 18.
