William Burns
William Burns is an American diplomat who is the former director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). He previously served as US deputy secretary of state from 2011 to 2014, and briefly as acting secretary of state in 2009. Burns has been the recipient of numerous awards including the President's Award for Distinguished Federal Civilian Service on three seperate occasions.
