Version 7.18.2
McCallum is right to warn of escalating Russian and Iranian hybrid threats. Using criminal networks to torch ambulances and probe military air bases is state-sponsored aggression, not ordinary espionage. Moscow and Tehran are bringing hostile operations onto British soil, threatening civilians and critical infrastructure with impunity. Britain must hit back with tougher sanctions, terror designations and arrests before these attacks escalate further.
Every unproven Russian or Iranian plot and alarming intelligence briefing conveniently justifies bigger security budgets, new sanctions and an expanding national security apparatus. The "Russian threat" is an all-too-convenient excuse for blaming foreign meddling for everything from referendum results to a few cans of gasoline, while governments dodge accountability for their own wars and failures. Legitimate political dissent is not a national security threat.
