The Spin

Pro-establishment narrative

Facial recognition technology represents the biggest policing reform in two centuries and has already delivered 1,700 arrests in the Met Police alone. True liberty requires safety on the streets, and cutting-edge AI tools give police the power to catch criminals and bring justice to communities. National standards will ensure consistent, effective crime-fighting across England and Wales.

Establishment-critical narrative

Facial recognition technology linked to atrocities in Gaza have no right being used on British streets. Senior executives are fleeing Corsight amid financial collapse and human rights controversies, yet Essex Police and now the U.K. government itself see the company as a fit partner to award taxpayers' money. This is yet another example of the U.K.'s complicity with human rights abuses and intent to create an Orwellian surveillance state.
