Testing glitchy software on people is a moral failure, especially if those falling under its purview are those whose identities are not encoded as acceptable in the technology. Software that reads, for instance, darker skin as older, bakes racism straight into border policy, and no tech polish can fix that. Soon enough, all civil rights shrink.
Facial recognition is the most powerful crime-fighting leap since DNA matching, and pretending the border should be the one place it stays banned makes no sense. Enforcement that actually identifies who is here illegally is the only way removals happen at scale. Clear laws and an independent watchdog will strive to keep the technology honest.
