Delaney Hall is a death trap masquerading as a detention facility. Edwin Lopez-Cornejo died after reportedly being denied diabetes medication and blood pressure treatment — basic care any humane facility would provide. This is the second death at Delaney Hall in under a year, and the pattern of medical neglect makes clear that this for-profit prison should be shut down immediately.
Pro-establishment narrative
Lopez-Cornejo was in ICE custody because he illegally entered the U.S., was deported in 2006 and then illegally re-entered. When a medical emergency occurred at Delaney Hall, staff responded immediately and called 911. ICE provided proper medical care throughout his detention, and all required notifications were made — the system followed protocol.
