- Speaking Wednesday at the Pnyx hill in Athens, with the Parthenon lit behind him, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the United States chooses "the unapologetic pursuit of national power." The address renewed speculation about a 2028 presidential run.
- Rubio said Western nations had opened their borders, outsourced industry and allowed their militaries to decay, and that "nationalism became a dirty word." He also called on Europe to "awaken from a long slumber," adding that the West is at an "inflection point."
