Corporate cash — particularly large, never-before-seen donations from groups and individuals to Donald Trump and his party — is drowning American democracy . Crypto giants, online betting companies and Big Tech are literally buying policy outcomes, with donations to MAGA Inc. tied directly to pardons and reversed regulations. These are pay-for-play transactions where corporations purchase government decisions with impunity.
While many on the left fret about corporate donations, Democrats and their allied nonprofits face far more serious questions about taxpayer-funded spending — from school officials charging luxury hotel stays and Australia trips, to legislators funneling millions to nonprofits they personally founded. Abdul El-Sayed's socialist Michigan Senate campaign has likewise drawn scrutiny for accepting funds from donors who simultaneously funded an openly Hitler-praising candidate. The real corruption isn't corporate PAC money, but leftist self-dealing.
America's campaign finance industry is a bipartisan, rotten machine built to keep money and power circulating among politicians, donors, lobbyists, nonprofits and consultants. Super PACs conceal who is buying elections while deadlocked regulators look away, and both parties helped build spending systems that protect insiders from voters. From pesticides in farming to going to war with Iran, corporations are paying the government to do the exact opposite of what voters want.
