Frontier AI development cannot, and should not, be arbitrarily paused — instead, it is time for the international community to come together and ensure that responsible innovation is the primary objective for all. After serious but manageable wake-up calls, the AI community is responding seriously to ensure that competition does not come at the expense of a safe future.
Narrative B
Signing an open letter and asking the government to fix a problem you created is a cop-out. If these labs truly believe AI poses existential risks, they have the power to slow down and open up their code to the public without waiting for politicians to act. Statements without verifiable evidence is merely cheap talk during a public relations crisis.
