- U.S. President Donald Trump announced Friday that Stephen Miller, the current deputy chief of staff and one of his "most trusted advisors," will become White House chief of staff starting Nov. 9, with Susie Wiles moving to the Trump Political Operation.
- Wiles submitted her resignation Thursday, a White House official said. She had served as chief of staff since day one of his second term.
- The change followed Tuesday's midterm elections, in which Democrats won control of both chambers of Congress. Republicans had a net loss of at least 41 House seats and at least seven Senate seats, including in South Carolina and Kansas.
