Version 7.18.2
Catching new infections among people already in quarantine shows contact tracing and surveillance doing exactly what the system was built to do. Slamming borders shut and choking off trade would only drive sick travelers underground, which is how transmission chains go undetected. Trained health workers, daily symptom checks and honest public updates beat panic every time.
A virus that kills nearly half the people it infects cannot be allowed to spread so easily across borders. Letting a sick traveler cross three countries and board a commercial flight before anyone noticed proves screening at those entry points was barely more than theater. Tighter controls, aggressive tracing and real limits on movement are all that stand between one imported case and a regional catastrophe.
