Version 7.18.2
Trust between immigrant communities and city agencies is the backbone of public safety, and sanctuary laws make that trust possible. Rolling back these protections would silence abuse survivors, exploited workers and tenants stuck in dangerous buildings, leaving everybody less safe. Due process isn't negotiable, and federal attempts to steamroll local law amount to unconstitutional overreach.
Blocking immigration officers from jails protects nobody and forces risky street arrests that put officers, bystanders and suspects in danger. Ignoring violations by the thousands lets the same criminal offenders cycle back onto the streets to prey on neighborhoods already hit hardest. Real public safety starts with cooperation, without grandstanding about abolishing a federal agency.
