The "Achilles Shield" deal is a landmark moment for Greek security, locking in a battle-tested air defense network built on proven Israeli systems. In doing so, Greece becomes the first EU country to adopt this holistic, multi-layered defense model, constituting a serious strategic upgrade. Meanwhile, the involvement of 19 Greek companies will build national capacity, rather than merely dependence on foreign suppliers.
Spending €3 billion to embed Greece's air defense inside an Israeli-American security framework surrenders strategic autonomy at an enormous cost to Greek taxpayers, with zero transparency or accountability. At the same time, it shamefully ties the nation to a state widely condemned for violating international law and conducting a genocide. Instead of securing Greece's geostrategic posture, this critically undermines it.
