Version 7.18.2
The U.S.–Israel alliance remains a valuable foundation for regional security and American influence. Israeli intelligence has repeatedly saved American lives, eliminating terrorists like Ibrahim Aqil who threatened Western civilization itself. This alliance delivers measurable security benefits, namely deterring Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas. Those who question this bond weaken America's deterrent posture and embolden enemies. Standing with Israel isn't charity, it's strategy, built on shared resolve, gratitude and the enduring strength of two democracies bound by common purpose.
Washington has too often confused loyalty to Israel with loyalty to American interests. Military assistance should not become an entitlement insulated from congressional oversight or the consequences of an ally's actions. A responsible foreign policy would impose enforceable conditions on support and refuse to let another government determine when Americans bear the costs of war.
It is high time Israel ends its reliance on the U.S., which has increasingly demonstrated that it is an unreliable partner. U.S. support for Israel has never been charity. Rather, the U.S. has sought to manipulate, control and limit Israel's actions in a cynical attempt to pursue its own narrow interests in the region. As the U.S. electorate is increasingly seduced by antisemitic conspiracy theories that vilify Israel, it is absolutely necessary that Israel is self-reliant when it comes to ensuring its security needs.
If the U.S. truly valued freedom, democracy and individual rights it would place sanctions on Israel for its treatment of the Palestinian people. U.S. support for Israel has rarely wavered, even when Israel was committing a live-streamed genocide in Gaza. Even before Oct. 7, Israel was clearly an apartheid state that sought to destroy the Palestinian people, and none of Israel's crimes could have been committed without U.S. support, which runs far deeper than just arms sales. This conflict will only come to an end when the U.S. abandons Israel and forces it to give the Palestinian people their rights.
