Guilfoyle Resigns as Greece Envoy at White House's Request

The Facts
- Kimberly Guilfoyle resigned Tuesday as U.S. ambassador to Greece after the White House asked her to step down. She called the role "the honor of a lifetime" and said that corruption allegations against her are false, vowing to defend her name.
- Earlier in the day, White House press secretary Katie Zacharia disclosed to reporters that the White House "asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign." She added that Guilfoyle "has been a wonderful asset to the team."
- Also Tuesday, President Donald Trump distanced himself from Guilfoyle when he told reporters that she was not a member of his family and had dated his son "long ago." He said that she was doing a good job, but "we didn't like what we were reading."

Trump has once again acted quickly to root out corruption. And, in doing so, he put loyalty and family ties aside to make sure the public trust is preserved. Trump has shown the type of backbone and ability to act fast that's rarely seen in Washington.
Anti-Trump narrative
One resignation isn't enough when self-dealing runs from the top on down in the Trump administration. Guilfoyle must face congressional oversight as the bare minimum, and more must be done to rein in other wrongdoings by this White House.
