UK: Farage Resigns as MP to Contest Seat Amid Finance Scrutiny

Nigel Farage resigned as MP for Clacton on Tuesday, triggering a contest in the Essex constituency. The Reform UK leader announced he would stand in the ensuing contest, claiming it to be a "people versus the establishment by-election."

He knew that a by-election may very well have been enforced by the parliamentary watchdog and, while this stunt may delay the findings of these inquiries, it will not stop the protection of British democracy from illegitimate financial influence.
