Greenland's future belongs to Greenlanders and Danes, and nobody else gets a vote on it. The EU just backed that principle with 200 million euros in real investment for connectivity, clean energy and critical raw materials — not vague promises about security. Territorial integrity and the inviolability of borders aren't negotiable just because a bigger power wants an island.
Government-critical narrative
Brussels wants Greenland's minerals more than it wants Greenlanders' consent. The same critical-raw-materials playbook that sparked backlash elsewhere is now being run in the Arctic, dressed up as partnership. Money doesn't erase that Greenland was never asked to join this union. Call it what locals already do: a modern resource grab with better branding. Washington can offer real benefits, not hot air.
