Kicking CNN, MS NOW and POLITICO off White House grounds just because their coverage stung is a First Amendment violation. Courts have said again and again that once access is granted, it can't be yanked based on the content of reporting — a standard that silences three outlets today can silence any outlet tomorrow. The White House belongs to the American people, and the people deserve reporters who can question power without fear of losing reporting rights.

Outlets that churn out fiction and lies about a sitting president shouldn't expect a taxpayer-funded desk and a TV booth on the North Lawn. Access to the White House campus is a privilege, not a constitutional entitlement, and administrations of both parties have long handed out that privilege selectively. The outrage machine only fires up for one president — 440 journalists lost credentials under Biden and it barely got a mention.
