This session just showed the country that some justices consider themselves untouchable. Instead of deciding whether Moraes should be investigated over his cozy ties to a banker under scrutiny, the court collapsed into shouting, procedural chicaneries and a request for delay that conveniently shields one of their own. Apologizing to the nation afterward doesn't fix the damage.

The real scandal here is a justice who leaked an unsigned police report to smear a colleague and yanked out the country's federal police leadership without any jurisdiction to do so. Evidence now points to Mendonça himself meeting with Vorcaro and a convenient change of vote in a case worth a fortune to that bank. Either everyone gets scrutinized under the same rules or this is just election-season sabotage under the guise of accountability.
