The Spin

Pro-establishment narrative

AI is already cracking cancer, from noninvasive blood tests that read the tumor microenvironment, to protein screens that catch lung cancer early and neoantigen picks for personalized vaccines. Cancer is exactly where decades of genomics, pathology, imaging and outcomes data make breakthroughs possible right now. Keep scaling the models alongside that biological infrastructure and cures follow.

Establishment-critical narrative

"AI will cure cancer" has become a marketing line deployed to quiet a public that is angry about data centers and terrified of losing work. It treats people as bundles of material needs, ignoring that work delivers purpose, status, mobility and political leverage that no abundance of pills replaces. The actual cures will come from expert cancer researchers using AI as a tool.
