This corruption nightmare could be seen from a mile away. With Albania's property sector saturated with organized crime, and experts saying much of the investment will flow to criminal networks, it's no surprise that a Miami businessman wanted for cocaine money laundering has been caught in the middle of this reckless deal. Not only is this a poor business deal and immoral, but pursuing it directly undermines Jared's father-in-law's anti-drug trafficking agenda.
The Kushner resort investigation targets a seller, not Kushner, with SPAK explicitly telling CBS News its probe doesn't concern any Kushner-linked company, and Reuters found no evidence that buyers knew of any suspicions. The real issue is Albania's broken land records and villagers with competing title claims that deserve resolution in court before construction advances. As long as this resort is built on a clean title, it's perfectly acceptable.
