Was this reckless vigilantism or a smart use of AI to deliver justice?

The Facts

  • Dominique Bouvet, a 66-year-old former physical education teacher and ex-official of the Haute-Saône departmental Olympic sports committee, was placed in pretrial detention and formally charged after allegedly making sexual propositions online to what he believed was a 14-year-old girl.
  • The "girl" was in fact a 21-year-old streamer known as Finnyzyy, who used AI-generated filters to alter his face and voice in real time during a Twitch livestream watched by more than 40,000 viewers and viewed roughly 1 million times since.
  • Bouvet had previously been sentenced in January 2025 to 18 months in prison with probation for possessing and distributing pornographic images of minors, and was banned from any professional or volunteer activity involving regular contact with minors.

The Spin

Narrative A

Finnyzyy's AI sting on Dominique B. worked — a judicial investigation was opened and the suspect was remanded in custody. The 211 Organisation never incited anything; the predator revealed his own intent. The group also explicitly condemned any potential doxxing, and the operation was fully demonetized. Viral or not, exposing predators and handing evidence to authorities is exactly what child protection demands.

Narrative B

Livestreaming predator stings is reckless vigilantism that puts real children at risk and can unleash unfair doxxing and public shaming before any court has ruled. Most importantly, when a suspect sees their face broadcast to thousands, they can delete evidence and disappear before police ever show up. Discretion and cooperation with investigators are what actually put predators behind bars — not viral Twitch moments.
