The Spin

Pro-establishment narrative

The scale of executions being carried out in Iran is not only staggering, but is also unprecedented. By eclipsing 1,000 executions and we are only through nine months of the year, it shows that Iran is carrying out executions at an industrial scale in violation of the most basic human rights principles.

Pro-Iran narrative

Iran has passed laws that have made it easier to obtain pardons, while reducing the sentences of many convicts. However, in the most serious of crimes, such as drug use or spying for Israel's Zionist regime, the most serious of punishments remain necessary.
