This resolution represents more of the same failed diplomacy that rewards Taliban intransigence with continued engagement and resources. After decades of American sacrifice in blood and treasure, it's time to stop enabling the Taliban's heinous behavior and demand real results rather than empty promises, beginning with the release of all American hostages in Afghanistan.
International engagement remains the only viable path to address Afghanistan's humanitarian crisis and support millions of suffering Afghans, particularly women and girls, who face widespread and systematic oppression. Pragmatic cooperation with the Taliban, the de facto authority in the country, is necessary to facilitate refugee returns and maintain life-saving programs.
