Thanks to their courage, the police prevented any further harm and the suspect is now in custody. The public should have total confidence in the authorities as they conduct their investigation.

Australia must face up to the fact that it has a serious gun problem. Its current laws have failed to regulate new developments, such as 3D printed firearms, and have allowed gun circulation to grow by 25% since 1996. The government should look to implement stricter rules to keep this community threat in check.

Australia’s gun rights are at the mercy of a political elite that treats law-abiding Australian firearm owners with nothing but disdain. In furtherance of their hostility, they have legislated bad-faith laws that have restricted gun ownership but have had no effect on crime. If anything, it is high time Australians won their rights to gun ownership back.
