Public trust in aviation safety has been shaken in the light of fatal crashes like these. As a result of cuts from President Trump, the FAA has fallen behind in the standards and benchmarks that made it a world-class organization. The GOP crusade on Washington's institutions and services will have deadly consequences for Americans and make air travel much less safe.

The frequency with which air accidents are occurring is tragic and alarming. What’s worse, there is good evidence to suggest that standards have declined drastically as people put politics above competence.
