Judge Orders Release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia

Is he a dangerous gang member wrongly freed by activist judges, or was he unlawfully detained through government deception?

The Spin

Republican narrative

If it wasn't for activist judges, this MS-13 gang member with domestic abuse convictions and human trafficking charges, who the Democrats hold up as a symbol, wouldn't be walking free in America — he'd be living elsewhere. If these judges keep blocking lawful enforcement of immigration statutes, the U.S. House will have no choice but to start impeachment proceedings.

Democratic narrative

The Trump administration has detained Abrego Garcia for months without having a removal order — the basic legal document required to hold anyone under immigration law. Officials misrepresented facts to the court, claimed countries agreed to accept him when they hadn't, and used detention as punishment rather than for its lawful purpose of facilitating removal.
