Trump has rightly chosen to reverse course and bolster NATO's defense while also resuming arms sales to Ukraine. His strikes on Iran and push for stronger sanctions on Russia show a strategic pivot to deter both Russia and China, countering their "no limits" partnership and reasserting U.S. global primacy through strength and calculated diplomacy.
Trump has fallen into the same war hawk trap that was set when the Ukraine war began. No matter how many patriot missiles Washington sends to Kyiv or how many sanctions are placed on Moscow, Russia continues to gain more territory in Ukraine by the day. These weapons packages aren't helping the situation on the ground, and the faster Washington accepts that, the more Ukrainian lives it can save.
