The Spin

Democratic narrative

Iowans are beginning to see through the self-serving politics of their Republican representatives, who continue to put loyalty to Trump's extremist agenda ahead of the people they were elected to serve. The election of two state Democrats this year so far should put Republicans on notice that Iowa will no longer tolerate their leader's dangerous policies.

Republican narrative

National Democrats were so desperate for victory after their November thrashing that they had to flood the race with volunteers and money to win a low-turnout election in what should have been a local race. This blatant overreach will not translate to midterm success when actual Iowa voters turn out to support proven Republican leadership.
