Report: Europe Ill-Prepared for 'Catastrophic' Climate Risks

The Copenhagen-based EU Environment Agency (EEA) released its first Europe-wide analysis of climate-related risks on Monday, warning that countries across the continent must prepare for "catastrophic" risks as it's heating up at twice the global pace.

The agency said that extreme weather events, including unprecedented wildfires and droughts, are "growing faster than our societal preparedness," adding that Europe should urgently mitigate climate change to protect the region's water, energy, and food security.

For their analysis, researchers observed 36 climate risks, including threats to ecosystems and economies. They concluded that eight needed urgent attention, while more than 18 required greater action.

According to the agency, Europe is the world's fastest-warming continent, with researchers warning that the region should prepare to face a temperature rise of at least 3°C by 2050.

In addition, the agency said that even if the world meets the 2015 Paris Agreement objective of keeping global temperature below 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, Europe will still likely face climate-related catastrophic threats.

In a worst-case scenario, the agency warned that hundreds of thousands of people could die from heatwaves, and "economic losses from coastal floods alone could exceed 1 trillion euros per year" by the end of 2100.

Manufactured climate alarmism isn't just ineffective, it's untruthful. Much of the research that climate alarmists cite is based on bad data, which ignores natural climate variability. Moreover, only a handful of extreme weather events and natural disasters have been linked to global warming, but certainly not all. The hysteria promoting climate change fearmongering is nothing more than a ploy to spread anti-capitalist ideologies and attack industries like oil and gas.
