This attack adds to the mounting evidence that Russian forces have committed war crimes against civilians, killing and maiming innocent victims, including children, far from the front lines of the war. Indiscriminate attacks directed against civilians and civilian objects amount to war crimes. It's time to hold Russian Pres. Vladimir Putin accountable for waging a crime of aggression and wounding him in the dock.
It's convenient for the West to blame Russia for the attacks on civilians in Ukraine and look the other way when Kyiv selects civilian targets inside Russia for its drone attacks. The enemy also justifies attacking the Republic of Crimea — a region rightfully reclaimed by Russia — and yet the West remains silent. Putin is within his rights to counter the Ukrainian offensive, particularly when Zelenskyy constantly gets increased NATO support.
