    The Facts

    • Storm Eunice hit the UK over the weekend, bringing record winds of 196km/h, killing at least 4 -- in addition to 6 in Ireland, Belgium and the Netherlands -- and causing widespread disruption.

    • Most of the rail network was shut down over the weekend due high winds and fallen trees blocking services, and almost 12,000 people were still without electricity on Tuesday.

    The Spin

    Left narrative

This is climate change in action. Human activity is heating the world, and severe and unusual weather events will only continue and worsen unless we start making radical changes now.

    Right narrative

This has nothing to do with climate change. Evidence has suggested that Britain is actually experiencing fewer intense storms and lighter winds in general. The pervasive view that climate change is generating ever-greater storms in the UK is motivated by editorial obsessions, especially at the BBC.
