The Institute for Energy Research (IER) is an American non-profit think tank founded in 1989 and based in Washington, D.C., that conducts research and analysis on global energy markets. IER advocates for free-market energy policies, opposes government intervention and renewable energy subsidies, and is associated with the American Energy Alliance, its advocacy arm.
