Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, 21, died on Saturday after a bungee jumping accident in Ponte do Esqueleto in Limeira, São Paulo, Brazil, after she jumped without a safety rope attached to her harness. She fell approximately 40 meters (131 feet).

Three men — aged 27, 32 and 42 — were arrested at the scene and charged with homicide with eventual intent, a Brazilian legal classification applied when a person proceeds with an act despite awareness that it could cause death.
