The Spin

Pro-Iran narrative

The U.S. military's strike on Bandar Abbas was in a blatant violation of the U.N. Charter, and Iran has every right to defend its sovereignty under Article 51. Additionally, threatening to destroy a U.N. member state like Oman — a proven peacemaker — is lawless bullying. Iran's red lines on enrichment, sanctions relief and the Strait of Hormuz are non-negotiable sovereign rights.

Pro-Trump narrative

The U.S. strikes on Bandar Abbas were purely defensive — a military site was seconds from launching another drone, and taking it out is exactly a ceasefire Iran keeps breaking should be maintained. Trump isn't playing electoral games; he's focused on legacy and making sure Iran never gets a nuclear weapon, for the world's sake. Iran stalled and provoked, now it is facing the consequences.

Anti-Trump narrative

Trump's inflammatory rhetoric regarding Oman reflects a dangerous lack of diplomatic judgment. His threat to "blow up" a peaceful and neutral nation that has long served as a trusted American partner was reckless, irresponsible and deeply inappropriate. While Iran projects resilience amid escalating tensions, Oman continues to uphold stability, dialogue and diplomacy. Such hostile language undermines international relations and disregards decades of constructive cooperation between Oman and the U.S.
