US Refunds $81B in Tariffs in Fiscal Year 2026

Is this a mistake of the Supreme Court's making, a sign that the administration is not going quickly enough or an abandonment of ordinary Americans?

The Spin

Right Establishment-Critical Narrative

Thanks to the Supreme Court, the U.S. finds itself in this mess, where the federal government is forced to hand back tens of billions of dollars in tax revenue to large corporations. This massive financial hit comes with no guarantee of any benefit to everyday Americans, as companies are unlikely to lower prices and the government is less incentivized to invest in public services.

Right Pro-Establishment Narrative

Months after the IEEPA tariffs were struck down, the Trump administration has yet to pay even half of what it owes. To make matters worse, bureaucratic hurdles have locked out small businesses while prioritizing corporate giants, and the White House continues to fight to retain its ill-gotten gains. The administration must correct its errors and pay these duties back immediately.

Left narrative

Once again, the American worker is being left behind by this administration. Despite having paid the cost of these illegal tariffs themselves, the administration is choosing to line the pockets of big business rather than reimburse ordinary Americans. This outrage must be rectified, and the multi-billion-dollar refunds must be redirected to the American families left out of pocket.
