The Spin

Narrative A

The incident that occurred at McLuhan Court was quickly and effectively contained and resolved by police, with clear emergency alerts, drilled protocols, and fast coordination ensuring nobody was injured in what could have been a tragedy. The university will now gradually return to normalcy, with the welfare of students and staff in mind.

Narrative B

A night like this on a university campus is a symptom of a country losing its grip on gun violence. Shelter-in-place alerts and counseling hotlines do nothing to stop armed assailants who figure the odds of getting caught are worth it. Real safety means going after the criminals and the guns, not just cleaning up afterward.
