The Facts

Ukraine failed to shoot down any ballistic missiles in Russia's latest attacks from Sunday through to Monday, highlighting the country's shortage of interceptor missiles.

Ukraine's Air Force said the attack consisted of 68 missiles and 351 drones, adding that 37 missiles and 326 drones were either shot down or electronically jammed. However, according to its numbers, none of the six Zircon anti-ship missiles and 23 Iskander ballistic missiles deployed by Russia were shot down.

At least 11 people were killed and 60 more were injured in Kyiv, officials said, while a further three people were killed and 26 more were injured in the wider region. Officials also said that a car was struck by a Russian drone in the Kherson region, killing four people.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy acknowledged the lack of interceptor missiles in a social media post on Monday, stating it was "critically important" for the U.S. and Ukraine's European partners to make "strong decisions in support of our air defense" at the NATO Summit in Ankara, Turkey on Monday.

Meanwhile, Russia's Defense Ministry said on Monday that 519 Ukrainian drones were shot down over the country, without specifying the number of drones that were used in the attacks. Officials said one person was killed and two more were injured in Crimea, while a further two people were reported injured in the central region of Yaroslavl.
