The U.K. has already taken major steps in this direction by banning child marriage outright, making it a criminal offense to arrange a marriage for anyone under 18 in England and Wales. Arranging a child marriage now carries up to seven years in prison, and exploiting vulnerable kids will not be tolerated. This landmark law protects millions of children from an abuse that derails education, health and kids' futures.
In 2025, 163 children faced forced marriage in Britain — 87 aged under 15. The state admits this is only the visible fraction. Yet politicians, police and social services flinch, fearing accusations of intolerance more than a child's suffering. Safeguarding has been sacrificed to political correctness. No culture, religion or fear of offense justifies abandoning a child. Britain's institutions have failed them.
