Version 7.7.2
The misconduct allegations against ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan reek of political motivations — they surfaced right after he pursued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders, and his accuser even acknowledged "games being played" around the case. Khan also faced threats from British and American officials warning the ICC would be defunded or sanctioned if the warrants proceeded. Suspending him doesn't erase the legitimacy of those warrants or the serious charges against Netanyahu and Gallant.
A yearlong U.N. investigation found that, beyond reasonable doubt, Khan engaged in non-consensual sexual contact with a junior staffer. The ICC's own oversight body reviewed the evidence and recommended his removal, and Britain's Bar Standards Board upheld his suspension. Presenting a sexual misconduct scandal as martyrdom for Palestinian justice insults the victim and undermines the court's credibility.
