The Canada-led defense bank would turn allied backing into cheaper loans, as well as stronger supply chains and faster rearmament. Shared financing can stretch tight budgets, support smaller firms and help meet rising security threats without piling every cost onto national debt.
Off-books debt beyond Whitehall's control is no substitute for disciplined defense spending. The existing multilateral mechanism already supports joint procurement, so another institution would split capital and blur accountability.
